We all have those gaming nights where we just want to jump into Arc Raiders, scavenge some scrap, and take down killer machines without any distractions. Sometimes you just don't feel like partying up or fielding team invites, and you want a completely quiet, solo session.
However, sneaking onto Arc Raiders under the radar is a bit tricky. The game does not feature a dedicated in-game "Appear Offline " toggle. To make matters more complicated, Arc Raiders handles its social backend through Embark Studios' own independent account servers. Because of this cross-platform ID system, your usual console or PC privacy settings don't seamlessly sync across different platforms.
If you set your status to invisible on your system, it will only hide you from friends playing on that exact same platform. Anyone on your friends list using a different system can still see you active on their in-game social menus.
To give yourself the maximum amount of privacy possible, you have to pair your specific platform's privacy settings with a clever cross-play workaround. Here is how to set it up.
How to Appear Offline on PC (Steam)
If you are playing on PC via Steam, putting your client into stealth mode successfully masks your presence from other Steam players inside the game.
  1. Open Steam.
  2. Click Friends in the top menu bar.
  3. Select Invisible from the drop-down menu.
Once this is done, your status will show up as "Offline" to any of your Steam friends who are also playing Arc Raiders.
How to Appear Offline on Xbox Series X|S
Changing your native Xbox status will hide your active gameplay loop from your fellow Xbox network users.
  1. Press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide menu.
  2. Navigate over to the far right tab: Profile & system.
  3. Select your profile picture, then click My profile.
  4. Choose the Appear online dropdown menu.
  5. Switch the setting to Appear offline.
How to Appear Offline on PlayStation 5
PlayStation 5 players can shut off their general gameplay presence from their PSN friends list with a quick menu adjustment, alongside a deeper privacy lock.
  1. Head to your PS5 home screen and select your Profile Picture in the top-right corner.
  2. Select Online Status from the quick menu that pops up.
  3. Choose Appear Offline.
  4. For extra security, go to Settings > Users and Accounts > Privacy > View and Customize Your Privacy Settings.
  5. Find the option that says "Who can see your online status and what you're currently playing" and change it to Nobody.
The Cross-Play Fix for True Solo Sessions
As mentioned earlier, because Embark IDs bridge different ecosystems together, a cross-platform friend (for example, a PC buddy looking for you while you are on Xbox) can completely bypass your console's built-in block.
If you want absolute peace and quiet without random invite pop-ups interrupting your matches, your best bet is to temporarily disable cross-play altogether. This stops the game from broadcasting your status across conflicting networks.
  1. Open the Arc Raiders Settings menu.
  2. Head over to the Gameplay tab.
  3. Scroll down until you see the Online section.
  4. Toggle Crossplay to Off.
